A fiery daughter-in-law, Liu Hongmei, earns 20,000 a month and carries the whole family on her back. Her mother-in-law, Wang Guixiang, is stuck in her ways, insisting that "a daughter-in-law is an outsider." She brings her three biological children along for a five-pronged power grab — kicking her off the dinner table, laying down house rules, taking over the house, refusing to pay debts, and pushing for a divorce. Hongmei doesn't argue, doesn't make a scene, and doesn't divorce. Instead, she fights back with five counter-moves: talking back, making bets, clearing out the house, settling accounts, and a final reckoning. In the end, she slams one line in her mother-in-law's face: "This family, I'm in charge."
