Where to start with Tamil, Hindi and Telugu micro-dramas
A Tamil romance with a refund clause, a Hindi match fixed on a mole, and a Telugu groom who never wanted the photo shoot.
Pooja comes out to meet her prospective in-laws with her face covered. It makes no difference. The groom’s sister-in-law has seen a mole on her forehead, and a mole there, she tells the room, means the girl is Lakshmi herself. She fixes the match on the spot, without the groom, who would rather see the world first. Her husband objects, “माथे पे तिल तो मेरे भी है” (I have a mole on my forehead too), yet she has never treated him like a god. That is the first episode of Til Wali Ladaki, a Hindi family drama about an arranged match, and it runs under two minutes.
ShortFlix lists 837 micro-dramas in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. For a first-timer, we chose three per language, each from a different channel, made in that language rather than dubbed, and none past 30 episodes. That rule cost us Annadammula Anubandham, Wondering Minds’ Telugu saga about brothers: past 200 episodes is a lot to ask of a first night.
Tamil
Tamil has the fewest series of the three, and Mr and Mrs GK, from our creators guide, made 15 of them; these three come from other channels.
Love Agreement

This contract romance writes the exit first: episode three’s title says that if the love fails, the money goes back. Episode one is a 44-second sick call. An office worker asks for a day off, and the next person who talks to him is not fooled: a man with a fever should not feel as cool as someone fresh from an air-conditioned room. The difference from Ex Why, the same channel’s series in our October picks, is pace: most episodes here run under a minute, and Ex Why’s run about two. Start at episode two if you want the agreement at once.
Break Up

The break-up in the title is between two friends: a love triangle whose third corner is the best friend. In episode one, a young man turns on the group for making his girlfriend cry. She is his, he says, and so is the problem. The titles follow the damage, from “Are you even a friend?” to “Do you know the pain of a friendship breakup?” Anyone who has lost a friend to a new relationship will recognise those titles. The quarrel opens on a swear word, so keep it out of the family room.
Bairavi Series

Bairavi Series is horror, and its first episode is about permission. A young man wants to join his friends at a wedding in Kodaikanal; his father says stay home. He may go if he takes his sister. The sister is on the boys’ trip, and someone has packed for 20 days when the plan is two. No ghost turns up in that dialogue, and these are the longest Tamil episodes here. Patient viewers will enjoy meeting the family; anyone after a quick scare will not.
Hindi
Hindi has more series than Tamil and Telugu together, and the arranged match keeps coming back, though two picks here follow students.
Til Wali Ladaki

In Til Wali Ladaki (The girl with the mole), the couple are the last to be asked. By episode nine, a title asks whether she can break off the wedding. On premise, it mirrors Paarumma Natta Paarothila, the Malayalam satire from our October picks, where a horoscope flaw gets the blame for a wedding called off twice; here a mole fixes one in a single visit. Romance fans will wait: the couple have not met by the end of episode one.
Tashan-e-Mohabbat

If you have seen Boys Over Flowers, you know the premise: the boy who runs the campus, and the new girl who will not bow to him. Episode one packs in the set pieces. Asad announces that he rules hearts, Zoya ignores him for the second day running, and a mishap follows that someone insists was deliberate. Then her presentation file vanishes, and she gives the talk, on artificial intelligence, from memory. Episode twelve is called “Nikah ke waade” (promises of marriage), so nothing is hidden: watch it to learn the form, not for surprises.
Dil Dosti Finance

Vijay, Shashi and Sejal share an online finance course, and their teacher has just rejected their project. Not one part of it: the whole thing. He adds that the last placement offer was 1.5 crore rupees. The titles joke (“Dil Out Of Syllabus”), but the story darkens. Shashi’s father is ill and money is short, which makes him Raju from 3 Idiots on premise: the friend whose family is counting on his result, and who breaks under it. Anyone who has sat a placement interview will wince at episode 22. In episode 27, Shashi holds scissors to his own neck. Episode 30 is titled “The End… Kya Waakayi?” (The end… really?).
Telugu
Telugu series lean to comedy more than Hindi ones; when they turn serious, it is often about siblings.
Brothers

Chandu, the youngest of three brothers, introduces their rented house as his small Bigg Boss house. Punctuality was born first, he says, and then Ganesh, the eldest. Kiran, the middle one, always comes second in college. Ganesh is late for work. One day’s leave never killed anyone, someone tells him. Exactly, comes the answer, but it kills our dreams slowly. The first episode’s title gives the secret away (Ganesh gave up his life for his younger brothers), so come for a family story, not a twist.
Mr & Miss Kidnap

A voice regrets booking a cab that night. Then a blindfolded woman decides her eyes are gone, and a man assures her they are where they always were. She accuses him of tying her up until he, Ravi, points out that his own hands and feet are tied too. Here a kidnapping is how two strangers meet: TAS calls it a rom-com. Pre-Wedding Shoot

Why is a groom who hates cameras at his own photo shoot? He tells the late photographer: the bride said no pre-wedding shoot meant no wedding. The comedy is told from behind the camera, and the assistant asks how a groom like that got a bride like this. Arranged match, the photographer says, and a government job; the assistant decides to get one too. After that, each episode is one mishap (the cousin’s Instagram reels, a security guard), so little pulls you on. It suits anyone who has stood through a wedding shoot.
A route for each language
In Tamil, start with Love Agreement, then Break Up; leave slow-starting Bairavi Series for later. In Hindi, start with Til Wali Ladaki, then Tashan-e-Mohabbat; save Dil Dosti Finance, with its 30 episodes and late turn to self-harm, for your second week. In Telugu, start with Brothers, then Mr & Miss Kidnap. Pre-Wedding Shoot’s episodes stand alone, so it will keep.

We left out dubbed versions, series made with AI, teasers, re-uploads and stories read by a narrator, and read each first episode’s captions in its own language. We did not count views. Episodes play from each creator’s own YouTube channel.
