Eight micro-drama creators worth following
A one-person studio that plays every part, and a Chilean TV network that makes telenovelas for phones.
Two teenagers sneak into Casey’s bedroom at a party and find her diary. Both of them have a broken arm. One says it happened off camera, and the other agrees that it is strange it happened to both of them. It is strange, until you learn that one person plays both parts. Mikaela Happas writes, directs, films, edits and performs every character on the channel.
Most of the series on ShortFlix come from makers like that. These are eight whose work we would start with, each in a different language. Every one of them has a page on ShortFlix with all their series in order.
Mikaela Happas
English · 21 series on ShortFlix · start with Hot and Homeless

The channel calls itself a character comedy, and the characters come back. Casey turns up at the party, and again in Hot and Homeless, where she and her mother get home from a vacation to find the locks changed. Her mother lost her job and could not pay the rent, though she did find the money for lip filler. In POV: First Day of School, a father explains, before the bus arrives, that he has slept on the couch since his wife found out about Miss Smith. The jokes are quick and mean, and nobody on screen is having a good week.
Sathyanwesh (Wondering Minds)
Telugu · 14 series on ShortFlix · start with Kasai Kodallu

Sathyanwesh says every short on the channel comes from real people and village life, and the series run long. Annadammula Anubandham, about the bond between brothers, has 201 episodes, and its first one is an argument about phones: the children want their uncle to put on another video, and their mother wants the phones put away. O Maguva Katha, a love story, has 218.
Kasai Kodallu is the easier way in. It opens on a morning in a village house, where the younger daughter-in-law is dressed early because the women’s savings group meets today and her dues are due. Her mother-in-law wants to know where she is going. Sathyanwesh also runs a channel for short films and another for vlogs.
Mr and Mrs GK
Tamil · 15 series on ShortFlix · start with Fall in Love with Your Neighbour

The couple behind this channel call themselves a two-states couple: she is from Karnataka, he is from Kerala, and the series they make together are in Tamil. Nearly all of them are love stories, and several open on a love song before anyone speaks. The Swap runs to 80 episodes. Feminist, about a woman finding her way back to herself after her relationships fall apart, runs to 56. Fall in Love with Your Neighbour is finished, which makes it the one to start with.
Shorts Break
Hindi · 4 series on ShortFlix · start with Maa aur Munna

Shorts Break has made the same four comedy series since 2021, and the characters are the point. Sheela Didi, the maid of Kaamwali Bai, has more than a hundred episodes. Two sisters fight over a missing outfit in Badi Behen vs Choti Behen. In Maa aur Munna, a boy plans a midnight raid on the besan laddoos, and his mother is a step ahead: they are in the cupboard, and she has the key. Husband vs Wife opens with the one question that every husband in comedy answers wrong.
Canal 13
Spanish · Chile · 6 series on ShortFlix · start with Más Enamorada(s)

Canal 13 is one of Chile’s biggest broadcasters, and in 2025 it began making telenovelas shot upright for phones. It calls them mininovelas, and it promised one a month from March to December 2026. In June, Atresmedia bought one of them, El obrero que me enamoró, for its Spanish streaming service, Atresplayer. No Chilean channel had sold a vertical series abroad before.
The six on ShortFlix cover most of the telenovela map. In Mira de quién te burlaste, a woman meets the man she has waited 15 years to face again, and he does not recognise her. In Sin receta para ser mamá, a mother’s first catering job falls on the day the nanny quits, and someone she knew 16 years ago notices that she still drops things when she is nervous. Más Enamorada(s), the sequel to Enamorada(s), brings back Sofía and Lorenza and opens on a date at a vegan restaurant. Madre de Familia was in our October picks.
WeTV (Tencent Video)
Chinese · 109 series on ShortFlix · start with Twin Sisters

Tencent Video, one of China’s largest streaming services, runs a YouTube channel just for its micro-dramas. Its own pitch is three minutes to get into a story and five to get hooked. Twin Sisters is a fair test of that. The twins swap lives, and the first episode opens on a professional fixer of other people’s problems, live-streaming a showdown with a cheating playboy for a client who has paid 5,000 yuan.
Take My Wife Away drops a modern finance executive into the Great Wei State, married into a bodyguard agency that is close to bankrupt. Its English subtitles are machine-translated, and the channel says so before the first line. The English titles are a pleasure of their own: I Want to Resign Every Single Day, Daddy’s Science and Technology Martial Arts Hall.
Kartavya Films
Gujarati · 14 series on ShortFlix · start with Bahen e Bhangaviyu Bhai nu Ghar

Kartavya Films makes Gujarati family melodrama at length. All but one of its 14 series pass 50 episodes, and eight pass 80. The titles tell you the territory: Dahej ni Aadat is about the habit of dowry, Dikri na Chhutachheda about a daughter’s divorce, and Fai ni Chadamani about an aunt who has left her own home and could turn up at any minute, which is all Mira needs to hear. The same names come back from series to series, Mira and Devang among them.
Start with the one where Devang’s sister-in-law tells him to marry soon, so that his wife can take over the housework. He says he is only in his third year of college. She reminds him that he has done third year twice.
Avenir Entertainments
Malayalam · 4 series and 85 short films on ShortFlix · start with Oru Salary Package Pranayam

Avenir Entertainments is a short-film channel first, and its series keep the same bite. In Oru Salary Package Pranayam, a groom cannot keep the story of his job straight. He told the bride’s family that he worked for an American company, and now it is a European one, because, he explains, America sold it to Europe when the war came. Beyond Periods goes straight at a husband who treats his wife’s period as an act. Kaalachakram is a mystery about two children and time. Paarumma Natta Paarothila, their horoscope satire, was in our October picks.
All eight have a page on ShortFlix with every series in order, and most of them are still adding episodes.
How we picked
Each creator here has at least four series on ShortFlix, makes their own work (no re-uploads, dubbed copies or series made with AI) and works in a different language. We did not count views or subscribers. Their series play from their own YouTube channels.
