How the revenge micro-drama channels get even
A soldier rings home with two months’ leave, an aunt accuses her niece before a judge, and a man reborn before a heatwave sells his killers a fake investment.
Orquídea has just praised her own breakfast when she sees the neighbour coming. She tells her sister to wait for her plate. The neighbour, ashamed, asks for a little food, and Orquídea turns the request around: she was on her way to ask the same, she says, because her sister has turned up and there is nothing in the house. That is exactly why the neighbour came: her own sister has turned up without warning. The episode lasts a minute, and its title, Le negó la comida a su vecina (She refused her neighbour food), has already decided who will pay for the lie.
ShortFlix lists 30 channels with at least two revenge series that are neither dubbed nor made with AI. Who are they, and how do they get even? We chose six, in six languages, and read at least two series from each. They run in order of how much planning the revenge takes, from none to a scheme that swallows five million. WeTV, Tencent Video’s channel, has the most revenge series here, but it was in our creators guide.

Sirin Mazumder’s bio says the videos are made to inspire people who are going through something, or have been. The word dhokha, betrayal, is in the episode notes of all six of the channel’s series, and both below open on a rejection, over money or looks. In Inteqam (Revenge), the episode notes show no plan at all.
A woman reaches a meeting place and finds the man standing behind her. He has learned that she is not a big businessman’s daughter, as she told him, and the first episode’s note sums it up: left for being poor. From episode 6 the notes add a husband’s betrayal, a mother’s curse and a karma that spares nobody; by episode 8, a wife has become rich. Karma does the work.
Kaisi teri khudgharzi (What selfishness of yours) turns the rejection around: the heroine refuses to marry her cousin Imran because he cannot talk or dress properly. Leave it for later. The cruelty in its first minute is hers, and the title seems to agree.

Five of Christopher Martínez’s series are about a neighbour and food, and in two of them the trouble starts at the door: someone asks at mealtime, someone inside lies, and the title names the sin. ShortFlix lists 17 of the channel’s revenge stories, nearly all in one-minute parts.
Le negó la comida a su vecina uses the door best, because the lie meets its mirror. The premise is Aesop’s ant turning the hungry grasshopper away, except that here the title blames the one who refuses. Thirteen days later the channel posted Le negó comida a su vecina, where the neighbour knocks at the same hour every day and the sister inside must keep quiet about the food.
Skip Por estar de arrogante lo perdió todo (Her arrogance cost her everything) first. It has no door and no lie: its first minute is one woman showing a friend her new pasola, a motor scooter, and telling her she owes nobody a peso for it. The friend admires it from where she stands. The title has told you the rest.

Ovizan 2.0

অভিযান 2.0 (Ovizan 2.0) puts a cliffhanger in many titles, অতঃপর (and then): 16 of its 51 series on ShortFlix use it. Two of its revenge stories start with a cheat at home and a partner who was meant to be away.
The soldier’s story sets the trap by phone. A woman announces that her husband is calling, picks up, and tells him she is alone, scrubbing the dishes because whoever was doing them felt ill and is resting next door. He has two months’ leave and wants to come home. “আসবা কেন?” (Why would you come?), she asks. The title has told you how his visit ends.
সারপ্রাইজ দিতে গিয়ে নিজেই সারপ্রাইজ হয়ে গেলো (Went to give a surprise, got one instead) can wait. It has the same early homecoming, on a woman’s birthday, but spends the catch at once: inside a minute, the other woman is a friend, then a girlfriend, then someone whose husband will not divorce her. That leaves 17 episodes to fill.

Shoof Drama

Shoof Drama, a brand of Cubic Connect powered by Watan Network, puts the whole plot in its titles and calls most of its series a riwaya, a novel. Four actors appear in both its revenge casts. Its wrongs run through the family’s own rules (marriage, inheritance, a father’s consent), and the stock scene is a confrontation in front of others.
عمتي ضرتي opens before a judge. An aunt says she raised her brother’s orphaned daughter, and the girl took her husband and now wants to cut her and her own daughter out of an inheritance. The title gives the motive (the aunt married the niece’s husband off to her own daughter), and the series name, My Aunt, My Co-Wife, gives the revenge. The 13th part is labelled the last.
الحب والحقد (Love and Hatred) has the premise of Antar and Abla, from the old Arabic epic: a low-born suitor asks for the daughter of a man who thinks him beneath her. Here the Bey humiliates the poor young man in front of others and throws him out. It is finished too, but runs 25 parts; start with the shorter one.

Every first episode we read from FlickReels ends on a line telling you to click for the full episode. This is the FlickReels app’s English channel, and some of its series are Chinese productions under English titles. Its revenge usually belongs to a wife, mother or daughter her family wrote off, the stock scene is the insult that comes with the discovery, and the plan is often a marriage to a man who outranks the culprit.
At 50, I Married My Ex’s CEO Boss bends that by age. Olivia, after years of double shifts, comes home to find her husband cheating. She is told that time has not been kind to her, and Felix’s college fund has gone on handbags. The premise is close to The First Wives Club: a wife in middle age getting even with the husband who cheated. The channel’s notes say her son finds her a stand-in husband online, who turns out to be Atticus Cavendish, her ex’s chief executive.
Five Years Behind Bars, My Family Begs is the move with nothing bent: a daughter jailed on the word of a girl her parents took in, told that her limp is an act, and married later by a chief executive. Save it for later.

Damahou Drama

What does revenge cost at 大馬猴短劇 (Damahou Drama)? A supermarket, a builder and a fake investment. It says it posts Chinese series daily for Chinese speakers abroad, revenge among them, and six of its seven series here are revenge stories. In both series below, each episode’s note names the next, and both reuse one scene: the mockers who do not know what is coming.
全球高温末世 has the most careful plan here. In episode 1, Lin Tian carries half a mouldy loaf through 70°C heat to save his girlfriend, Wang Xiaoyuan, and his friend Zhang Qiang, and learns they mean to kill him for food. In episode 2 he wakes seven days before the heat and sells them a fake investment. They hand him five million. He books them a suite at a hill resort and lends them a car he can lock from afar. When he warns them the end is five minutes away, they call him mad; by episode 18, water there costs 10,000 a bottle. From episode 16 the notes also turn to shoulder rubs and a bikini.
Skip 一步登天 (A Leap to the Top) first. Jiang Jingran, robbed of his project and his wife, kneels before the chairman with his dead father’s bloodied work clothes. In episode 14 the chairman’s daughter reads out his promotion to the office that was still laughing at him in episode 13. The revenge is handed to him, and episodes 21 to 23 sit in a separate playlist.
The heatwave playlist’s own title promises 50 episodes, and ShortFlix lists 20 so far.
